I graduated from Kings College Medical School, London in 1999 and completed my training in General Practice in 2004. I have studied at Post Graduate level at the University of Hertfordshire where I was awarded the Diploma in CBT with Merit.
I am a fully accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I am married and have 3 children. As a former GP with over 12 years of medical experience I have always been interested in the psychological aspects of care. I have worked with all ages in both adult and child NHS community mental health services (CMHT and CAMHS) as well as in an inpatient adult mental health team. I also have extensive experience working with young people having worked as a therapist in several Middle/ Secondary schools, as well providing private therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, emotions and behaviours are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and unhelpful behaviours can trap you in a vicious cycle through no fault of your own. CBT aims to help you deal with problems by looking at practical ways to break these vicious cycles and improve the way you feel. Unlike some other talking therapies CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on the past.
Once we have identified your personal goals for therapy and have developed a shared understanding about your difficulties, we can start to look at helping you develop new skills and ways of coping with these difficulties. The aim of CBT is to give you the skills to break the hold that your difficulties have over you and allow you to live your best life.
